ANALOG COLLAGES
My practice investigates the evanescence of apocalypse and the unknown– the metamorphic abilities it possesses when passed down from individual to collective distopia. Our longing for home and its links to historical notions of ecological displacement echo through my thinking process. This means I use the archival image as a starting point to my practice. The photographic collages are concerned with portraying the energies of deformed bodies in misplaced landscapes.
I’m using editorials as a starting point to represent selected fragments of individual memory in dissonance with its surrounding. The tool to hypothesise on the unlocked future of humans which is manipulated and deformed in the aftermath of human expansion over the earth. Using cut and paste methods that mimic the archival practises and photographic re-enactment, I place my images oddly amongst each other of where I find an intervention of human species. This process sets up an alternative narrative of interaction with the past and breaks the stillness of the "what has yet to come" – giving a new thinking of where we are.
